Today at the Geneva Motor show, Aston Martin unveiled a new division of the company. With the help of Prodrive (Aston Martin Racing) they have come up with AMR. The new division is all about bridging the gap between the road going Aston Martin cars, and the Aston Martin Racing race cars. So the new cars are all going to be track based/oriented, think BMW’s M division on steroids.
The first two cars are an AMR version of the Rapide, a 600 BHP V12 4 door salon, which will be the fastest 4 door car available as it will do 213mph. Then there is the Vantage AMR Pro, this is none road legal track only vehicle. It gets a 500 BHP build of Aston’s V8 GT4 race engine. The car is generally in race-spec, so includes a sequential gearbox, adjustable suspension and center-lock 19” wheels with Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires. The aero for the car is pulled mainly from Astons WEC Vantage GTE, so that big wing you see is for downforce and not just for show.
Prices have not been announced, but you can bet they will be mind blowing some how. But it will be interesting to see where AMR goes with this.
