Over the past couple of weeks there have been a few winter tests running at different circuits, for teams to get ready for 2015. Both Strakka Racing and ESM have been out with there new LMP2 cars which will appear in the FIA WEC in 2015.
Strakka-Dome S103
First we have a on-board of the Strakka-Dome S103 which has been testing all year, and was meant to compete this year, but unfortunately due to unforeseen issues thy decided to run the whole year testing the car for 2015. Here is there last test before the winter break, they were down in France at Paul Ricard circuit doing dry and wet run tests with there recently updated S103. The car is powered by the Nissan v8 that 90% of the field ran this year, but when it’s offered to customers will take other packages as well. (Video from Strakka YouTube channel)
ESM HPD ARX-04b
The second video is of the new HPD ARX-04b testing over at Sebring in the US. This is the new HPD LMP2 coupe, which is powered by the same Honda v6 twin turbo that was in the previous HPD open top LMP2 car. ESM were shaking the new car down, as the new HPD is not at the same advance development stage as the Strakka-Dome S103. This is also the car that ESM will be making a full season attack on the FIA WEC with, after there exploratory races this season. It will be intresting how these new Coupes stack up in next years FIA WEC and how they deal with the already race proven Ligier JS P2. (Video from Lanky Turtle)
