The successor to the 1M has finally had its launch as BMW introduced the M2. Its been viewed as the spiritual successor to the E30 M3 through E46 M3 as the new M2 is around the same size unlike the M4 which has got a lot bigger. The new M2 is powered by a new 3.0L six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, producing 272 kW/370 hp at 6,500RPM (redline 7,000RPM) and peak torque of 465 Nm / 343 lb-ft. The 0-60 sprint is done in 4.5 seconds for the manual gearbox or 4.3 if you go for the optional DCT gearbox, weight is 1495kg with aluminium been used for a lot of light weight motorsport influenced construction and yes there is a locking diff for them sideways moments, braking duty is covered by 4 pot callipers up front and 2 pot’s at the rear with steal discs all round. The price for this is £44k which is not bad for a full on M car. Now is it just me or is this M2 just calling out to be made into a GT4 racer to compete with the to be unveiled Porsche Cayman GT4 racer? Just saying BMW…..
