British GT 2019 Decider @ Donington Park Video and Gallery
It’s already that time of the year when championships start coming to their conclusion. That was the case for the British GT last weekend. Everything had come down to the #doiningtondecider. GT3 had 4 cars that could take the title, while GT4 was down to two teams.
Unfortunately, the start of the race was postponed by a rouge Ford Mustang deciding it didn’t like the looks of a Mercedes AMG GT4. I’m not sure how it happened before the green flag dropped but it meant the race started under the safety car.
Once things were underway the Mclaren of Balfe motorsport stormed away from the front. But for us, all eyes were on the #47 Aston of TF Sport. They were ahead of both championship-contending Lamborghinis as #72 hit problems and #69 had some places to make up.
It wasn’t all over though, as towards the end the #69 Lambo made a pass on #47 Aston with some help. While going into the old hairpin, the #18 Lambo of WPI made contact with the #47 TF Aston. Pushing him off-line and allowing themselves and more importantly the #69 Barwell Lambo past.
This situation was going to make the #69 Barwell champions, but an after race WPI penalty reversed them and the #47 Aston. Making TF sport with the #47 Aston of Johnny Adam and Graham Davidson champions.
Out front, the Balfe Mclaren took their maiden win with the new 720S in the championship. GT4 it was also TF sport with the Aston GT4 #97 to take the title, over the hard-charging Multimatic Ford Mustang #15.
