This past weekend, we found ourselves at Brands Hatch for another thrilling round of the 2025 British GT Championship. Brands always delivers, and this time was no exception.
We took the opportunity to explore the GP circuit, something we didn’t get to do last year. As we walked through the woods towards Dingle Dell, the sound of roaring engines surrounded you, even when the cars were out of sight. It was a visceral experience, the noise echoing through the trees. Every now and then, a blur of colour would flash through the gaps.
Further on, we stood at Stirlings, a banked corner that showcased just how much these drivers push their cars. Occasionally, a driver would misjudge their line, kicking up a spray of gravel as they ran wide.
As for the two-hour race, the Blackthorn Aston Martin (#7) seemed poised for a dominant victory, but a drive-through penalty on the opening laps cost them the lead. Despite the setback, they fought hard and managed to climb back to a respectable fourth place. The 2 Seas team (#42) capitalised on the opportunity, seizing the lead and holding off a relentless charge from the Optimum McLaren (#77) to take the win.
In the GT4 class, it was a mixed bag for Optimum. Their #90 McLaren ended up in the wall on the very first lap, but their #17 McLaren had a stellar race, taking a well-deserved victory.
All in all, it was a fantastic day of racing. The atmosphere, the sounds, and the sheer spectacle of it all made for a truly memorable weekend.
