Trackside: Masters Endurance Legends – Silverstone Classic 2022
It had been a while, but over the August Bank Holiday weekend, we finally made it down to Silverstone. Specifically, we were down there for the Silverstone Classic and the Masters Endurance Legends. The Endurance Legends was a series I had wanted to see for a while now, as these are all the cars I grew up with and which sucked me into endurance racing and motorsport from the age of 14.
Getting to hear the last generation of V12’s to be put into LMP and GT cars always sends a shiver down my spine. For that reason, both the AMR Lola DBR 1-2 and the AMR DBR9 hold a special place in my heart. After all, it was the V12 in the DBR9 that captured my attention back as that 14-year-old kid. No wonder I have been an AMR fan ever since. The great thing about the Masters series of races though is not just the racing, but also the fact you can walk into the paddock and the garages. Watch the teams working on the cars and get right up close and personal with the cars.
The races might have only been 40 minutes long, but they bring back all the memories of watching the LMS from yesteryear. Diesel Peugeots flying past chased by screaming V8 Pescarolo’s, then followed by the fantastic bark of a Judd V10 in the Dallara, whats not to like?
Enjoy the Gallery below, and we will try and get the rest of the Silverstone Classic gallery up soon.
