After a lengthy period in storage, our Mini R56 track car is finally back on the track.
We spent July bringing the R56 back up to scratch, tackling crucial maintenance before its return to the circuit. Our prep list ensured mechanical reliability was 100%. Wheel bearings were replaced, fresh pads up front, new disks and pads at the rear, competition-grade brake fluid replaced, and a full service, including upgraded iridium spark plugs.
Our first track day back out was a debut visit to Trac Mon on Anglesey. We were lucky to experience both the Full Circuit and the technical Coastal layout with Opentrack, splitting the day between the two layouts.
The Mini performed brilliantly. For a car that had been resting for some time, it proved itself reliable and stable, feeling perfectly at home on the Anglesey tarmac. We were seriously impressed—it didn’t put a foot wrong.
The only slight compromise? A set of brand new tyres would have been ideal, but for a session purely focused on shaking off the cobwebs, the R56 was flawless.
This is just the start. Over the winter, we have major plans for the Mini. We are ramping up to prepare the R56 for 2026. Preparing the car to enter its first competitive events next year and beginning the process of designing and producing our own performance components for the car.
