Oulton Park is always one of the standout events on the British GT calendar, and this year’s visit certainly lived up to expectations. We arrived in Cheshire to an incredible 33°C bank holiday weekend, with packed spectator banks and a full GT3 and GT4 grid ready to tackle two sprint races around one of the UK’s most challenging circuits.
Race One delivered plenty of action from the very start. Barwell Motorsport’s Lamborghini wasted no time getting to the front, making a superb launch and taking the lead into Old Hall. What followed was a typically intense British GT affair, with battles throughout the field and drivers pushing hard around the narrow, unforgiving Oulton Park layout. Despite sustained pressure from the Beechdean Aston Martin in the closing stages, Barwell held firm to secure victory, while Century Motorsport claimed top honours in GT4.
The second race brought even more drama. Following a safety car start, the GT3 field quickly settled into a fierce contest, with strategy and pit stops playing a major role in shaping the outcome. As positions changed hands and the pressure mounted, several crews emerged as potential winners before the race entered its final stages.
Ultimately, it was Optimum Motorsport that came away with the spoils, as their McLaren to victory after a faultless performance in front of another strong performance from Beechdean with their Aston Martin. GT4 was equally entertaining, with a late twist shaking up the order and handing Grange Racing by FSR a memorable class win.
Another fantastic weekend at Oulton Park and another reminder of why British GT remains one of the best racing championships in the country.
