Welcome to the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 a racer that has a lot to live up too. It’s older sibling racked up 26 GT3 Championship victories and seven 24-hour race wins between 2009 and 2014, that’s a hell of act to follow but that is what this car is aiming to do. The new racer has only two things in common with the old R8 LMS, the name and the mean sound 5.2 Litre V10 that produces around 585 BHP. Based on the 2016 R8 the new car has been in for some serious aero work, including a flat floor and combined rear diffuser and a massive rear wing with swan neck mounting for a better down force producing area. The wheel arches are designed to reduce lift via the louvres at the rear of them, even the wing mirrors have been shaped in a aero positive manner.
The new car has been testing for some time now, but that dos’nt mean the customers will be getting a go just yet. The car is expected to go through even more testing before its competitive début which is the Nürburgring 24-hour race in mid-May 2015.
