Rally Sweden saw Jari-Matti Latvala really kick off his championship title hunt. VW were on to dominate the top 3 positions, with Ogier leading Latvala second and VW’s third driver Mikkelsen in third overall, in the early stages of the event. Then Ogier made a mistake and threw his Polo WRC of the road and cost him self a clear win, handing it to Latvala. Ostberg in the Citroen DS3 WRC gave it his all to try and stop the VW’s in the top two spots, ending the event only +5.9 seconds behind Mikkelsen. Brit Kris Meeke had a tough rally ending up 10th while Robert Kubica had a disastrous run ending up in 24th and Ogier clawed his way back up to 6th. This has given Latvala a 5 point lead in the drivers championship over Ogier after two rounds.
