BMW has launched their Z4 GTE that will replace the M3 GTE in the American Le Mans Series for this year and will continue next year in the Grand Am ALMS merger. The new car is based on the Z4 GT3 so is still running the same V8 engine but will be using different air restrictors so power output will change. The bodywork has been overhauled with new aero and some wide wheel arches to fit the new wider Michelin rubber. As things are at the moment the car won’t be run in Europe, in either the WEC, ELMS, or at Le Mans, this year but things could change in the future.
