PLR were at Oulton Park on Tuesday 28 August for the Radical SR3 SL’s last outing in are customers hands. The car had been reverted back to standard by us and DFR Motorsport, so the front and rear bodywork is different, different rear sub-frame for the bodywork, and the road legal exhaust had been put on with the silencer. The day started well with the car running fine, lapping a wet track.
While out on a run the car developed a problem and cut out just before the entrance to the pits, so are customer rolled in and we got to work diagnosing the problem. The laptop was plugged in and the data from the car was studied, the fan had not come on, on the radiator and a fuse had blown. This came down to the fan partially ceasing and was trying to draw more amps which popped a 5amp fuse but also killed the ignition. 5 Amp fuse replaced and fan freed up all was fine. After lunch though there was a more serious problem that occurred the ecu got a spike and killed the car again. This was not related to the previous problem and turned out to be a back feed from a wheel speed sensor that had gone down. It was a shame the last run with the car ended like this, but were on with getting the car up and running again, soon we will have some news on what we will be running in the future so stay tuned.
