PLR Trackside: GT Cup Oulton Park 2017
The weekend after Tunerfest we were back at Oulton Park for the GT Cup, a lower budget alternative to British GT. With 2 classes there are full on FIA GT3 cars, so Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3’s, Lamborghini Hurrican GT3’s, Gallardo GT3’s, and Mclaren 12C GT3’s racing against older variants of racers like Moslers and Marcos’s. There were also GT4 cars racing so plenty of Ginetta G55’s up against privately developed racers, in this case, some nice BMW E46 M3’s and an E92 M3.
We didn’t see any big crashes although we did see some drivers making so mistakes and impressive saves. The racing although split into groups by the speed differences, was close in the groups that were circulating, with a couple of drivers pushing too hard and making mistakes. There were also a few retirees through out the race, but the worst was the Mosler that was leading the race out right, having to pull onto the side of the track.
